Agioi Apostoli Beaches

Information about Agioi Apostoli Beaches

Agioi Apostoloi, close to Chania, has a series of three beaches within sandy coves, all within a short walk of each other.

Crissi Akti(Chrissy Akti) Beach is one of them, a long sandy beach which offers water sports, food and drink, facilities for sunbathing and swimming.

Clear water and sheltered from the Summer North winds.

The beach has an interesting flora with Sea Pines, Palms, Oleander and Eucalyptus

The second of Agioi Apostoli’s beaches is a horseshoe shaped sandy cove. Popular for swimming. It is situated within easy reach of hotels and apartments and only a short distance from one of the most beautiful natural parks in Chania. The beach is 500 metres long and 50 metres wide. A volleyball competition is held here during the summer. The beach can be accessed via wooden boards and ramps. The beach has a Blue Flag award.

The third beach is the smallest beach in this Municipality. Another small cove, it is sandy, and within a short distance of hotels and apartments. It is 300 metres long and 20 metres wide. The beach is approached by wooden boards and ramps. The beach has Blue Flag status.

The local flora is interesting with many Sea Pines, Oleander,
Palms and Eucalyptus. The Lily of the sea, (Pancratium maritimum)grows here.
This rare and protected species has large, delicate, white flowers and is strongly scented.

Environmental educational projects take place throughout the year, particularly regarding the Sea Turtle (Careta careta) who use the coastline to breed.

Location:
Around 4 kilometres from Chania in the area known as Nea Kydonia, the beaches are easily accessible by public transport with buses running from Chania every 15 minutes during the Summer months.
