Balos BeachInformation about Balos Beach
Balos beach and lagoon is stunningly situated at the North of the Gramvousa Peninsula.
One of the finest beaches in Greece. The lagoon beach is sandy with pink and white coloured sand and thousands of tiny seashells. The shallow water is very warm during the Summer months
The beach is sheltered from the Summer winds, protected by the beautiful island of Gramvousa.
As well as the lagoon, the sea here is perfect for swimming and snorkelling with crystal clear water.
As the beach is so isolated, the only facilities are a small cafe serving light refreshments.
If you drive, the beach is a short walk of about 10-15 minutes from the car park. The beach is signposted from the car park. The panoramic views as you approach and get your first glimpse of the beach are fantastic.
Location:
Located 58 kilometres from Chania. Access for the final part is by 8 kilometres of unmade road which can be very rough in places so experienced drivers only and preferably in a 4x4 but it is possible for normal vehicles to drive the road with care. Otherwise by boat from Kissamos.
