Rethymnon AreaInformation about Rethymnon Area

The prefecture or province of Rethymnon (Ρέθυμνο) stretches across central Crete from the north to south coasts and borders the prefecture of Heraklion to the east and Chania to the west.
The capital of the area is the city of Rethymno situated on the north coast.
The Nomos Rethimnis, as it is sometimes written, contains eleven distinct municipal districts in addition to the capital city, Rethymno. These are: Anogeia, Arkadi, Foinikas, Geropotamos, Kouloukonas, Kourites, Lampi, Lappa, Nikiforos Fokas, Syvritos and Zoniana. The area is also split into 4 provinces.
Within these districts are the towns, villages and resorts which make this area an outstanding holiday destination and such a memorable place to visit.
