GeraniInformation about Gerani
Gerani is a small village and beach on the north coast in the Chania area.
The beach is long and sandy, part of a beach which is 1500 metres long. It has been awarded Blue Flag status. Gerani Beach has facilities for sunbathing, swimming and sea sports. It can be affected by the Summer north winds.
The village has local shopping facilities and enough places for eating and drinking without being too busy. Accommodation is available.
There is a small marina in the locality.
The Municipality and local school operate an environmental programme in the area organizing a variety of events including coast cleanings to raise public awareness and seminars on the protection of the Sea Turtle (Caretta Caretta) who lay their eggs on the beach.
The flora and fauna of the area also includes Brun trees, Sea Lilies, waterfowl, lizards and a wealth of small wild birds.
Gerani is easily accessed from Chania by public bus service.

Gerani is located in the Municipality of Platanias and is easily accessed from Chania, which is 13km away. There is a public bus service or if driving yourself, Gerani is just a short distance from the National Road.
