KalivesInformation about Kalives
Kalives (Kalyves) is a popular coastal resort with a long sandy beach.
The town and the surrounding area is popular with visitors from Northern Europe and many people from Northern Europe have settled here.
The beach is sheltered and not affected by the Summer north winds. Facilities for sunbathing, sea sports and swimming. Accommodation is available.
Church of Agia Paraskevi in the centre of the town (Greek Orthodox).
History
Kastelli Hill east, on the outskirts of the town is topped by the remains of the fortification, Castello Apicorono. This has been identified as the ancient site, Ippokoronion.
In Classical and Byzantine times, Kalives was possibly the site of Kissamos, one of ancient Aptera's two harbours.

Situated at the Southern coast of the Akrotiri (Souda) bay, at a distance of 19 kilometers from Chania at the East, just off the Old National Road to Rethymno.
