Marathi BeachInformation about Marathi Beach
Marathi Beach is a fine sandy beach on the south coast of the Akrotiri Peninsula.
The beach is small (300m by 10m) and idyllic with beautiful views of Souda Bay.
It is sheltered from the Summer north winds (meltemia).
The area has many wild flowers and is very picturesque.
The combination of the soft sand and the sheltered shallow water make it an ideal beach for families with small children or for people learning to swim.
Facilities are available for sunbathing and sea sports.
Accommodation is available locally in small hotels and rooms to rent.
Food and drink is available from a few restaurants, tavernas and cafes which are mostly located at the eastern end of the beach.
Location:
Marathi Beach is situated 12 kilometers east of Chania. The location is best served by car or taxi or by staying in the local accommodation. There is no public bus service.
